New England Clam Chowder

I’m feeling like soup today so I think this is my pick today! It’s easy peasy, give it a go!!


  • 3 slices of bacon
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 x 5oz cans of clams
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cups of milk,cream or a combo of both(I’ll use almond and/or coconut milk)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • chopped parsley fresh
  • bacon bits


  1. In a large saucepan, cook the bacon and onions till tender. Stir in the potatoes till browned lightly.
  2. drain the clams into a measure cup, add enough water to make 2 cups. Stir into the pot adding the clams and bay leaf as well. Boil for 10 minutes or so.
  3. Add in your milk or cream and heat thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper if you like.
  4. Discard the bay leaf.
  5. Serve hot with a sprinkle of parsley and some bacon bits on top!
